Meet the Founder

Dr. Cain is an educator at heart and an evaluator by accident (but she loves it here). Driven by her own experiences working in marginalized communities, she uses evaluation as a vehicle to address inequities and to engage others in these critical conversations and practices. Dr. Cain has dedicated 20+ years to ensuring that communities, especially the most marginalized, receive the high-quality programs that they deserve. She is also an east coast nomad residing in Tulsa, OK and a proud flexitarian (bacon or tofu depends on the day).

What Our Clients are Saying

“Dr. Cain has unprecedented skills in evaluation that when combined with her focus on equity make her an invaluable member of any team or project. She has been an integral part of South Carolina’s efforts to better understand current conditions for young children and their families through equity-informed methods to center underrepresented voices. This work has led to shifts in a state-level strategic plan and organizational priorities.”

-Leigh D’Amico, Research Associate Professor, University of South Carolina

My team and I are working on a project that uses a social justice lens to address disparities throughout the emergency management process. We needed someone to validate our nationwide survey that would reach a diverse group of respondents. We hired Dr. J. Montana Cain based on her experience, training, and dedication to equity, collaboration, and action. Dr. Cain prioritized community has excellent time management skills and provided thoughtful and meticulous feedback. The revision process was collaborative as Dr. Cain listened to every voice and considered our thoughts. As a result, Dr. Cain took our survey to another level. We are confident in the final product."
